Please Don't Resuscitate Jennifer's Body!

Jennifer's Body hit movie theaters in 2009 and starred Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried. This film was a great concept, but was a bad movie. I don't know if this film was the result of being poorly written, bad acting or just a combination of the two. The premise of Jennifer's Body was a simple one. The movie is set in the fictional small town and a girl named Jennifer, played by Megan Fox, becomes demon possessed when a local rock band thinking she was a virgin sacrifices her to the devil so they can get fame and fortune. The lead singer of the band, Nikolai, played by Adam Brody, kills her in sacrifice, but Jennifer is not a virgin and a demon possesses her and she begins to kill and feed on the males at her school.

Anita also known as Needy, played by Amanda Seyfried is Jennifer's long time, insecure, childhood best friend. Needy becomes suspicious of Jennifer when the night she leaves with the rock band Jennifer mysteriously pops up at Needy's home later on and vomits black fluid on her kitchen floor.

As the movie goes on more people die, Needy does research and finds out how to kill Jennifer and finally does. While in attempting to kill her Needy is bitten by Jennifer, but ultimately she stabs Jennifer in the heart killing her. Jennifer's mom walks in and Needy is sentenced to an insane asylum. In Needy having been bitten by Jennifer and have lived some of Jennifer's powers were transferred to Needy. With her new found powers she breaks out of the insane asylum and tracks down the rock band that sacrificed Jennifer and murders them all.

I felt like this movie was missing something. Like something could have been done differently or enhanced in some way. Maybe there are a few that enjoyed this film, but I am not one of those few. I am glad that I saw this movie OnDemand for free and did not make the mistake of out of curiosity buying this movie on DVD. Hopefully this film will fade off into the abyss of nothingness.

Megan Fox, You're Fired!

There is no secret that Megan Fox will not be in the third installment of the Transformers franchise. Transformers: Dark of the Moon directed by Michael Bay will be in theaters June 29th starring Shia LaBeouf reprising his role as Sam Witwicky and his new love interest will be played by English model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
Megan Fox needs to learn to censor what she says because in Hollywood one day you can be the "it" girl everyone wants to work with and then the next you can be out and not even your own agent will want to take your call. You cannot say any and everything that is on your mind and if you must then don't get quoted in a publication saying it.
That being said Fox was apparently quoted in saying that director Michael Bay "wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is. So he's a nightmare to work with." Steven Spielberg who was a producer of the films, but the franchise no longer requires him did not like the "Hitler" comment so he ordered Bay to fire Fox.
Michael Bay has responded by saying, "I wasn't hurt because I know that's just Megan. Megan loves to get a response. And she does it kind of the wrong way. I'm sorry Megan. I'm sorry I made you work twelve hours. I'm sorry that I'm making you show up on time. Movies are not always warm and fuzzy."
Transformers: Dark of the Moon will possibly be one of the most grossing movies of the summer and hopefully Megan Fox will learn the error of her ways....probably not.

The Hangover 2 Tattoo Controversy Is Settled...maybe.

The Hangover Part 2 is to release on DVD and Blu-Ray in December, but Ed Helms' face may look a little different. Warner Bros. Studios told a Missouri judge that if they cannot come to a settlement with tattoo artist S. Victor Whitmill by the time the film is set release on DVD and Blu-Ray then they will alter the tattoo on Stu's (Ed Helms) face.

If you can recall tattoo artist S. Victor Whitmill is suing Warner Bros. due to copyright infringement on a tattoo that he designed and inked on boxer Mike Tyson.

Considering that The Hangover Part 2 has grossed $350 million worldwide and still growing I'm sure Whitmill and Warner Bros. will come to a lucrative settlement that may even result in the now controversial tattoo not having to be changed or altered.

My advice to S. Victor Whitmill is to settle for the biggest amount possible and even try to work out a deal to create a special and unique tattoo for The Hangover 3 because you know they are going to eek out another film. Overall Whitmill didn't stop the original date for the film to release in theaters and most likely he will not stop the release of the DVD and if Warner Bros. has good lawyers they will find a way to release the DVD on time with no alterations.

The Green Lantern- A Mediocre Film

I saw The Green Lantern on Friday night and I wouldn't go as far as to say it was bad or terrible, but it was simply MEDIOCRE. It was a mediocre film with a mediocre cast. Ryan Reynolds stars as Hal Jordan also known as The Green Lantern and although he was useful in the few comedic quips scattered throughout the film overall he could have been replaced. The only qualifications needed for the role of Hal Jordan was had to be male, tall, unfortunately white and muscular. Obviously ability to act was not on the list.
This film is based on the DC Comics character of the same name. Before this film I was not to familiar with The Green Lantern comic books or cartoons. A few years ago I had only viewed one video in which The Green Lantern made an appearance and that was a cartoon movie titled The Justice League and in that video he was a black man, but for this film they decided to go back to the original.
Carol Ferris, played by Blake Lively, is Hal's long time friend and love interest. This is only the second film I can recall seeing Blake Lively in and I do not watch Gossip Girls so I can only critique from the two films I have seen her in and she is not a bad actress, she just isn't good. She could be good though if she gets some advanced acting lessons because I don't believe she is the character she is to portray. Yet again she was perfect for this film because this was a mediocre movie.
Peter Sarsgaard plays the villain Dr. Hector Hammond who is extremely eccentric, but is a brilliant scientist. He becomes exposed to a substance that causes his brain to grow enormously and gives him powers. Sarsgaard actually played this role well I could see his eccentricity, awkwardness and his constant seeking of approval of his father Senator Robert Hammond played by Tim Robbins and his then later dive into darkness.
Also making an appearance in this film is Angela Bassett as Dr. Amanda Waller, Mark Strong as Thaal Sinestro Hal's mentor, and Michael Clarke Duncan as Kilowog.
This film was mediocre because with the scenes there was no smooth transition and some parts were just not believable. I realize this was a film about fantasy, but even still it was not convincing. I give this movie a THUMBS DOWN. Don't waste your time or money going to the theater to see this movie. Wait until it comes out on DVD or OnDemand...don't worry it will be out in a couple months.

X-Men First Class

It was a Saturday night and the theater was all abuzz. My ticket was torn and I was directed to stand in a forming line to be let into the 10:20 showing of X-Men First Class. I took my seat in the back row which is where I like to sit and quickly joined by others as the place began to fill. Soon the lights got dim and the previews began to show. The theater got dark one more time and the Marvel Comics sequence rolled. There it was the first scene of the movie a younger Magneto...
I will not give away too much, but this film is a prequel that has an excellent back story that I loved and it was interesting to see how certain bonds were formed. I am not a X-Men connoisseur so therefore I am more familiar with the more popular characters such as: Wolverine, Storm, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Rogue, Ice Man, Gambit and others. In this film I and others become acquainted with a young Professor X, Magneto, Beast and Mystique, but also:
First Class and Villains
Mystique- Shape shifting mutant.
Beast- Genius/scientist.
Angel- Has housefly wings and her saliva is acidic.
Banshee- Capable of ultrasonic screaming used in different ways including flying.
Havok- Able to absorb energy and discharge it as a blast.
Darwin- Can adapt to his environment.
Sebastian Shaw (V)- Able to absorb kinetic and radiated energy and redirect it.
White Queen (V)- A telepath and able to turn herself into diamond form.
Azazel (V)- Teleports.
Riptide (V)- Creates powerful whirlwinds from his hands.
The casting for the film was great and the acting was good. During the film I kept trying to picture the young Professor X and Magneto as older and they didn't seem to fit. This casting may have been the franchises way of not only revamping the movie itself, but also a revamp of characters.
At the box office opening weekend the prequel X-Men First Class didn't have its usual flare, but it did rake in $56 million domestically and that's not just lunch money.
I give this movie a thumbs UP. I confident that if you go see this film you will enjoy the storyline, characters, action and you will have a "oh that's how it happened" moment.
